A point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

My Situation

I am an Australian citizen who was born in Australia in the 80's.

My mother was a polish citizen, born in Warsaw in the 50's and emigrated to Australia with her family in 1961 (prior to the 1962 Act - does this have an impact on her citizenship status?)

My Understanding

From what I can gather I am a Polish Citizen by default, seeing as though my parents didn't renounce my citizenship within the first 3-months of my birth.

Next Steps

I think my next move is to apply for "Confirmation of Possession or Loss of Polish Citizenship" through the Sydney consulate.

Once citizenship is confirmed I can begin proceedings to apply for a passport.

My Questions

- Is this correct?
- How long is each process likely to take?
- Is it easiest to enage a legal professional to act on my behalf? Who and how much would this cost?
