The Canberra UK Embassy website's FAQ states "3 to 4 weeks at the moment". You might do well to bypass your visa company and contact them directly on:

I assume you're a British citizen: you may be able to find out something from the FCO in the UK. Visa applications from some parts of the world (IIRC Asia Pacific/Oceania) are sent back to London for processing.
I'm not familiar with what Australian visa companies do; however those in the UK for travel to some countries simply ensure that one doesn't have to turn up in person to make the application. I've not found any that would add quite such a delay into the process - typically only a couple of days for the post.
