    Hello everyone,

i would like to get advice from you about my forthcoming marriage and all the permits we need to be able to get married with my french fiancée. The situation is like this:

    - i am colombian. She is french.

    - we've known each other for 6 years. We were together in colombia until september 2007, and then she went to live a year in the united states to study and then she went back to france to work as a teacher in lyon. Right now i'm living in london since november 2009 and studying english. We met each other again happily 3 weeks ago when i went to visit her in france, and now she is coming to live with me at the end of april and we plan to apply for a coa, in order to get married here. Most of the time we've been separated, but now we plan to organize to live together as i stated before. She is not coming to study or work here because she wants to take this time to finish her thesis to graduate later in lyon, where we plan to move later. We don't want to apply for residence permit later in the uk.

    - does she need to be working here in order to apply for a coa, does she need to have a permanent residence in order to get married?
    - what are the requirements to apply for a coa and which is the process to get married here in the uk?

Thank you very much for all the help that you can provide me. I really appreciate it.

    Best regards,

    fabian

She doesn't need CoA or permanent residence to get married in the UK, she can do it right away, its only you who would need CoA.

Have a read at the link below, it should answer all your questions regarding getting married.

    Yes you can.

You can provide a cover letter with the application and give a bit of explanation about it.

    Good luck

hello, I'm a British national living in spain, and planning to marry my girlfriend, who is colombian, we've been going out for 4 years. She lives in spain too, she's got a work permit. What requirements do we need in order to give her British nationality as we are thinking of living in a year or two in London, with the posibility of going back to spain. I have another question, once married will she automatically become an EU member? How do we apply for this?
    thank you,
    William
