First of all what a great forum this is. I'm so glad to have found it.

Right now I'm in the process of organising my move to Milan hopefully by end of April/early May.
My situation is this:
My Japanese fiance has just been posted to the Milan office so he has an apartment, car, phone etc. which is great....less things to take care of.
But for myself I'm concerned about medical/health cover whilst I'm in Italy. I won't be working in Milan so don't have company to cover me.
I realised the E111 form is not applicable since I'll be in Italy longer than 3 months so I enquired further and got in contact with the Pension Service here who sent me an E106 form which I've filled out.
Depending on the information given on the form I may or may not get medical cover in Italy, so I'll just have to wait and see for their reply.

Is anyone in the same position as me? who's moved to Milan within the EU and is not working?
How did you go about getting medical cover?

I read without some sort of medical cover I cannot register with a local GP, is this correct?
I don't want to take out private health insurance, not if I really don't have to. I just want to be able to pop in to see a GP when I'm ill...just like the way it is in the UK.
This is the only thing that concerns me for now.

I'll be living in Milan for up to 5 yrs so it would be best if I can get the E106 certificate.
During these years it's certain I will start a family. If I do not get the E106 will the E111 be sufficient for maternity care?
I'm still not clear as to what my rights are in Italy. I'm the sort of person who likes to do things 'properly' if you know what I mean.

I've just thought of something as well, will my fiance's company medical insurance cover me once we've married? I'm sure most of them cover their spouses and family right?
We're getting married hopefully in September in Italy
