Rent house or flat in Amsterdam

Tools:

There is a shortage of good apartments in central Amsterdam. Needless to say, apartments are hugely overpriced and are a challenge to find especially in the nicer areas of town. Some of the best places to stay in Amsterdam will be central Amsterdam with its beautiful canals and 17 and 18th century architecture. Jordaan is also a lovely area that's just outside the centre but has a slightly slower pace. Oud Zuid is the posh neighbourhood of Amsterdam and is favoured by the expatriates. The Eastern Docklands are built on the Ij in response to the acute shortage of housing and offer new comfortable homes in an up market area. De Pijp is a lively bustling district, Westerpark is close to the centre but has major parking problems and lastly, Amstelveen is a green and peaceful suburban town situated in the south of Amsterdam.

If you prefer to rent an accommodation, there are numerous estate agencies and websites specialized in properties in Amsterdam. For example:

Update list?
I think it would be great if this post got an update. And indeed english sites would be great. There are some great recommendations in the comments below, and I would like to add on to that.

For more of a short stay I would recommend https://perfectvisit.com/, it's an English site which is great for us expats that aren't too familiar with the Dutch language.

Let an agent search for you
As most of the times you will have to pay commission when renting an apartment, it is wise to spent that money on an agent who will be searching for you.

Link
Dear madam/sir,

I've seen the links of recommended amsterdam agencies on this page. Looking at the agencies I noticed that their websites are all in Dutch. Not really convenient for expats.

Thats's why I want to recommend you ww.perfecthousing.nl. This is a website in English orientated on expat in the Netherlands. Furthermore Perfect Housing has the largest collection of rentals in the Amsterdam region (more than 2000 properties at the moment). Therefore it would be an addition to your service regarding expat relocation.

For any questions, don't hesitate and contact me: nasser.al.kamouchi@perfecthousing.nl

Kind regards,

Nasser al Kamouchi
