The electricity is measured and billed every month and is calculated based on individual household consumption and the season. Each company offers a variety of payment methods and most bills can be paid via ePay.bg or on the company's website.
The mains water is safe to drink in the cities, although people in rural areas prefer to drink bottled water and use tap water for washing and watering their gardens.
Most of the properties that are connected to mains water are metered and are charged per cubic meter of water used. Water shortages are rare in cities, but are common in rural areas.
