Malaysian In need of Advice

Postby Jah » Mon Dec 06, 2010 5:15 am

Hi im a Malaysian with a Finnish fiance, we initially planned to get married and live in my home country. A year ago my wife-to-be was diagnosed with cancer and undergoing treatment in Finland. She would need the medical attention in Finland for the next 5-10 years and right now I cant travel so often to Finland because of my job. By law I cant seek for jobs in Finland when I was there on a visiting visa. Im in Malaysia now and trying all my best to find something I can do in Finland as all I want right now is to be by her side at the same time we need some means of living. This distance kills. I need all the advice I can get on how to go about moving to Finland. Im lost and truly saddened by this rough situation. Will truly appreciate some advice..

Jah

Sorry to hear about your situation. Unfortunately there is not much for you to choose from when it comes to immigration - as far as I know. You will either to have to try your luck in securing a job in Finland with an employer who could process your work permit and visa or alternatively get married with your fiance in Finland or anywhere else and apply for residency afterwards on the basis of marriage.

Have you thought about getting to Finland on a visit visa and getting married ? I am positive you can do that and once married, apply for residency from within the country.

Good luck
