Looking to play soccer in Paris

Postby darren1171 » Mon Nov 22, 2010 4:28 pm

Hi Everyone,

I'm from Dublin, Ireland and have moved over to Paris very recently.
I love soccer and want to get some fitness back too, and meet new people/ friends so I would like to find out if there is somewhere I can play football.

I dont mind whether its just for a good run out/ or pretty serious, whether its 5/7/11 a side etc./ on grass/ astro turf whatever - playing with french or expats!. I'll play anyway. I love playing the game, I'd like to make some friends who enjoy soccer and I want to get fit so this would be ideal personally!

So if anyone knows of anything, whether the play themselves regularly or just know anyone who does, or even any links to sites? I would be very very grateful.
Also, on a different matter, if anyone is looking for, or knows of anyone looking for English lessons just let me know! Am private teacher - thanks

Darren

Hi Jonny,

I got a reply from a team which plays 11 a side on Sunday afternoons. I played last week and it was good. The team seem to be short in players most week so they are always happy to take on new players. Proper refs and all. The only single BIG problem I found (you may not find this a problem (?)) was that the whole team is French so all communicate in french with each other basically. There was one other Irish lad (only other native english speaker) but his french is fluent so he's fine. My level of french is ok but far from anywhere near fluent yet as I just arrived and so personally I found this quite frustrating as it made it difficult mixing with the others as I was looking forward to the social aspect of it aswell somewhat and meeting others through it. I found it weird in the dressing room having all these lads round me talking and not really knowing what was really going on!! Anyways I can pm you my contact details anyway and see what you think. I'd be interested to hear how you got on aswell, perhaps you found something yourself?

I don't know if this will be useful to either of you, but there is a women's league called PUC (Paris Université Club) http://www.pucfoot.com/feminines.html. They play on a new generation of artificial turf in Paris (75013) at the Stade of Charlety, very close to the Cité Universitaire. Training sessions are twice a week (Monday and Wednesday at 8 pm) and games are Saturday afternoons.
Contact: pucfoot@yahoo.fr

Maybe they will know of some men's leagues. Best of luck!

Hello,

have u guys been successful in finding somewhere to play in Paris? I just moved here to live for some months and would very much like to play some football. I'm from Brazil, speak a little bit of french and english. Would play serious matches or just for fun, doesn't matter.

My email adress is f.sette@gmail.com.

Fernando.

While this might be the opposite of a 'serious game', you know you can find quite a few people who randomly kick the ball around and play a bit of football on le Champ de Mars, and on weekends in Bois du Boulogne. If you find one or two people with you I'm sure you could rustle up a little group of people to play. I've certainly gotten hit by a soccer ball or two, or had them land in the middle of our meal while relaxing with friends. Haha.

There's also a field near the Eiffel tower (RER stop Champ de Mars Tour Eiffel) I see playing on an enclosed field there quite regularly. Maybe it's some kind of club?

You could also ask la fédération française de foot for some suggestions about amateur/club play for fun...near la motte picquet grenelle.
