    Hi guys,

Few minutes ago I joined this Forum and I wanna ask you a question - anyone can answer is more than welcome: I got a job offer from an UK employer, but unfortunately I need an UK Work Permit in order to start to work there. Is it a long and difficult process, or it can be done in only several weeks? What do you think?
Many thanks in advance for your answers!

It depends on your nationality. If you are american for example, it can take only several weeks but sometimes it takes a few months for other countries. But of course it can be quicker if the company helps you a lot to get all the papers as quickly as possible.

You need to get a Schengen visa with multi-entrance (maybe it can be part of your work visa, I don't know). Schengen is the name applied to a series of agreements that eliminate border controls between most but not all European countries.

The government of the following countries signed the Schengen agreements: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain

On March 25, 2001 the following countries became members of the Schengen region: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden

Ireland and the United Kingdom, although members of the European Union, are not part of the Schengen area. However as you ave a work permit in the UK, you do not have any problem to go back to England.

You can only get the work permit once you've got an offer for a job. The company will have also to justify that they employ you.

It all depends on your qualification.
