✎ EN From the UK and I want to marry GF in the US

    I am a uk citizen and i have an american girlfriend we met 2 years ago in florida and have been together since then, we have just spent the last 2 months together in the united states were she lives and i have now returned home we both found this really hard as all we want is to be together. WE want to get married in the USA but really dont know how to go about it, please is there anyone out there that can help us in this matter. many thanks.

    Congratulations on your (hopefully) upcoming nuptials :D ! The USA's requirements for a marriage license differ from state to state. Which state would you want to be married in? Florida? Here are the state's requirements - http://www.stateofflorida.com/Portal/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=30.

    I assume from here you would be interested in obtaining the necessary visas to live together. I would refer you to EasyExpat's FAQ on departures to get an idea of what would be required for you to obtain a US visa, or for her to obtain a UK visa. Also check out the city guides (located on the left of the page) for a full guide on how to expat in another country.
