    Hello guys !

Well first of all, thanks to all of you for making this web space so friendly. I have been reading it for a while now and people happen to be very helpful ! :)

I am a French national, married to an Indian guy.
I am currently in the UK ; in fact, I arrived about 2 weeks ago. I just found a job and I am now looking for an apartment.

Now, my husband and I are willing to apply for the EEA permit for him to come and join me here.
I believe we gather almost all the criteria to be granted this permit, but going through the application form, there are still a few things that I am confused about.
This is when I need your guidance !

What would be the best reply to the following questions:

-"Main purpose of your visit to the UK?" (it's not a holiday, nor for work, it's just to be together")
How long do you intend to stay? (the permit is issued for 6 months, but obvisouly here, my husband wants to stay with me)
Dates of travel (Should we buy a Return ticket?)

ave you lived with the EEA National in a relationship like a marriage .. at any time including since a wedding (Does this include any period of time him and me used to live under the same roof, even before wedding?)

Questions related to the house/apartment where the EEA is living and intending to receive the non-EEA national : is a studio apartment fine ? Or a 1 bedroom apartment is the minimum required ? (more specifically, is there a minimum surface to have when greeting the non EEA national?)

Do you intend to live with the EEA National permanently ? (of course, the answer is yes, but what should we mention? knowing that the permit is for 6 months, we obviously don't want the UK Border to think that he may overstay his stay. We are planning to apply for another EEA family permit when he is here though. Should we mention it ?)

Do you or EEA National have any savings, properties, etc...? (should we both show our bank account details)
Do you intend to work in the UK ? (yes, he would like to as long as he has the right to. Would the answer "yes" put him in a bad position?)

Any tips for the EEA national's cover letter ?

When providing supporting documents, does it have to be original documents (for example original marriage certificate) or photocopies are fine ?
Also, for the copy of my passport, I read on the forum that the copy has to be certified by the French embassy, but I haven't read that on the UK Embassy website. Is it still required ?

Finally, and that should be last question,
Since August 2012, all applicants from India and some other countries are required to undertake a tuberculosis x-ray check if the applicant intends to stay more than six months in the UK.
Here, applying for the EEA permit can not give you a right to be in the UK for more than 6 months, but since we intend to extend his stay through another EEA Family permit( for 5 years I think), should my husband still get his tuberculosis screening done ?

Thank you very much for the taking the time to read me. That was a very long post and I hope it made sense to you.
All I want is to be sure that my husband and I are doing things as they are expected to be done to avoid bad surprises in the future.

Thank you again ! I hope to hear from you soon !

Welcome to EasyExpat! :D I'm glad you have found it helpful.

The FAQ section offers many quick guides to frequent questions, like What is a UK EEA Family Permit?

As to your specific questions, possibly some of the other forum users who have been through the process can help. Anyone have tips & advice?

Hey thank you a lot Texkourgan for your reply, it is highly appreciated.
So basically you are advising to me to apply for the residence permit.

Actually I was thinking to do that later, when my husband is (hopefully) granted the EEA permit for 6 months. We would indeed apply for:
    - residence card for me
    - EEA Family permit for 5 years for my husband.

I know this sounds weird as it would require us to undergo more application, but I'm just looking at the quickest way for him to join me, as I have seen it might take up to 6 months to hear back from the UK border agency when applying for the Residence certificate.

As for the EEA Permit Application and the two very first questions (WHAT is your purpose of visit, and WHEN do you intend to leave the UK), what are the best answers considering that we want to apply for another EEA permit later on when he is here.

Thank you again to all of you for your time and consideration; this application is a stressful thing to think about and to do, and having the opportunity to share doubts and questions is quite relieving I must say !
