Long story made short - I have 5 children ages 25 - 14, their father was born in the UK. His mother was a British citizen who had become a naturalized American. His father was US military during WWII. He was born in a private nursing home, but the only birth certificate we have is a US State Dept. report of child born abroad of American parents. The kids want to know if there is any way for them to reside legally in the UK. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not quite sure in this situation. Are they trying to find out if they can have dual citizenship? They may be eligible, but may need to declare at 18. Of course they can go to the UK as US citizens without trouble for 6 months. Then there are
a variety of visas they may eligible for outlined here: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visitingtheuk/

For citizenship, you should start with the UK Border Agency: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/britishcitizenship/. They have great info and clear explanations.

    Best of luck!

Thanks! A short update - we have now got a copy of their dad's British birth certificate. Will that make any difference?
