Most medicines are readily available at pharmacies. Each emirate has at least one pharmacy open 24 hours a day. Details of the 24 hours pharmacy for your area will be printed in the local newspaper, or can be obtained by calling the 24-hour municipality emergency number (Dubai 04 2232323). Most pharmacies are open from 9.30am to 1pm and from 4.30 to 8.30pm or later, Saturdays to Thursdays.
Chinese medicine is readily available in Dubai and there is also a homeopathic hospital.
With so much to deal with before leaving your home country, (taxes, moving house, paperwork etc.) the careful planning of your expatriation to Dubai is an essential step. As far as healthcare is concerned, your local social security scheme won’t be accompanying you to your host country and, once abroad, you might be surprised by the care system you find in United Arab Emirates. So, before leaving, make sure you have appropriate cover!
