Hotels in Kuala Lumpur

Accommodation at all levels can be found everywhere in Kuala Lumpur. The most popular area to stay in Bukit Bintang and KLCC, as these neighborhoods is the closest to the KL's best shopping and nightlife. New hotels are popping up all over Chow Kit and Jalan Ipoh. You may also refer to the 'Districts' section under geography for a detailed guide on neighborhood characteristics.

Peak season is around major festivals such as Chinese New Year in January/February (refer to Holidays under Work Usage for more dates). Outside of these high times, it is often possible to rent a room for a discounted price. Feel free to ask about discounts when booking. Hotel prices rates range from 70-100MYR. If you're willing to take the train for 15minutes to the main attractions, hotels can be found for 50MYR. Luxury hotels have rooms available for as little as 400MYR.

Resorts in Malaysia

Resorts are a popular option for visitors to Malaysia. Primarily located along the beaches, these locations usually offer Western-style amenities and pricing. You can expect to find gorgeous settings, air-conditioning, spas, swimming pools, and free shuttles to town.

B&B in Kuala Lumpur

There are not many traditional bed & breakfasts in Kuala Lumpur. Some hotels provide a buffet breakfast, but it is usually a more basic offering toast with jam or butter, tea or coffee, and a slice of fruit. Note that as a majority Muslim nation, bacon and pork products won't be on offer.

If you prefer somewhere traditional to get to know the country, look for a heritage property. These consist of traditional Malaysian house or even Chinese mansions. Here you can find the Malaysia of the past and enjoy unique architecture, antiques and traditional artwork. However, these properties rarely have Western amenities so be prepared for a more rustic setting like fans versus air-conditioning and Asian-style squat toilet.
