Jamaica Customs is the authority for assessing duties on all items crossing Jamaica's borders and the Trade Board regulates licensable exports and imports. See contacts for these agencies below.
Restricted imports or items that require an import license include motor vehicles and certain plants (view list of Items that Require Import License). There is also a list of items that require a license to be moved or exported from Jamaica. The list includes coffee, endangered animals and motor vehicles. Jamaica Customs prohibits entry of "indecent and obscene" magazines, films and such items. Luggage up to a certain value is allowed duty free for the traveller. Jamaica Customs has a customer service desk that answers queries about imports for personal use or for trade (tariffs and fees).
