Expat Newsletter April 2022

Latest News in our Expat Network

Hello

First of all: THANKS! We asked you to follow us on Instagram, now we have to send you the 100 thanks that we promised as we passed this key stage in April, thanks to you! THANKS again!!!!

In our Magazine this month we cover international transport and wonder first if Travel is back. Many countries have eased travel restrictions to stimulate the tourist industry, and it feels like possibilities to move around are back to pre-pandemic days. But is the pandemic really over? We give some answers in our article.

Still on transport, but this time regarding freight and furniture moves, we talk about the new challenges of removal companies. How do you move your furnitures from the port when there is no container available because they are stuck somewhere else? Aside from the logistical nightmare of relocating during the pandemic where nothing operated normally, moving companies are still facing a shortage of freight containers and missing workforce, which transforms an already challenging situation into a full blown crisis.

The United States have decided to eliminate the twice-annual time variation for daylight saving. Daylight savings time is widely unpopular, and eliminating the practice has long been a focus of both politicians and community groups. However, many countries are still operating the one hour shift in April, and it's the occasion to focus particularly on Spain to wonder if they are even on the correct time according to their position on earth. You will find answers and a bit of historical context in our article.

Talking on health and wellbeing, it gives us the opportunity to highlight the difficult situations created by the pandemic for a lot of us. Our partner Cigna is offering until the end of May an upgrade on all new subscriptions, by adding the Health & Wellbeing module completely free of charge and for the lifetime of the policy.

Last but not least, the past two years have seen many people reconsidering their lifestyle. Do you know the concept of WWOOFing? Do you want to experience sustainable living on organic farms for free during some time-off/holidays? Then, read our article talking about a worldwide organisation called WorldWide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF). And you will definitely enjoy our interview of two WWOOFers who provide many details about their unusual experience (spoiler: they really liked it!).

We would love to hear your views and share your comments on our articles. Don't forget that you can react and comment on all our articles in our forums! Links are at the bottom of each article, and in the Magazine section of the forum.

This month, we interviewed Pierre-Phillippe and his wife Emanuelle, who share a passion for ecology and sustainable organic farming. During summer 2020 and 2021, they decided to experience the life of WWOOFers. They are sharing their experience and many photos of their time there. Have a look at their story!
