Further to my earlier post on another thread, I thought British users on this forum might be interested to hear of a new ruling that affects those who sold property in Spain between July 2004 and December 2006. A Spanish court has ruled that during this period British people were overcharged Capital Gains Tax by 133% (you should have been charged 15% CGT but were charged 35% instead) and could be in line for a rebate. The reason this is topical is because the first British couple have just successfully claimed their rebate. If you think this affects you or friends and family, we are recommending a group of Spanish lawyers who have set up a website for those you think they may have a claim: www.spanishtaxreclaim.co.uk Hope this is of interest.
