As far as meeting people, there are many excellent expat blogs in London with great people offering advice, and looking to meet-up. Once you have used the forums a bit, you can also have access to the network tool where you can directly communicate with expats in your area. Hi,
I've been in London since late September, I would love to meet other au pairs here. I live in New Addington, it's relatively not far from Brixton, and equally far to the centre If you'd like to meet one weekend (that's my only possibility), we could arrange something next week, what do you think?

How do you like it in London? I fell in love with the city when I last came here, henceforth I'd applied for an au pair programme. I don't see much of the centre during the week, but it is enough for me to practise my English. I think this city is really multicultural and free, it has an amazing atmosphere.
