    Hi everyone

    I am a student going to start my masters in a university in lille and to finance my living in lille i am planning to give english classes and i think its one asset which i can really capitalise on.But the problem is tht I how dont know how to go about. I mean wht kind of books i should be referring to for teachng vocabulary, giving grammatical excercises.

    I am sure there are lots of people here who would be doing the same.Could anyone of you guide me to get over this starting trouble phase!! Which books? I would really appreciate any help even if its just a smiley!!

    Don't bother, really. If you want to teach to schoolchildren and students, they'll provide their own books, and you can use that as a basis.

    If you're targeting more older people, you can use the newspapers: it's more fun (because it's actual news), and you can easily vary the difficulty, by picking papers from the Daily Mail up to the IHT or the Grauniad...

    And as you have no issues with speaking English, you can do just that : speak with people, taking any topic as a starting point.

    Just don't forget to cover the classics ;-) (irregular verbs, pronouns, pronunciation of common words, and idioms and expressions)

    Hi!

    If you want a book for grammatical exercises and explanations, I advice you the "English Grammar in Use" By Raymond Rurphy (Cambridge University press). I think it's a good book, the explanations are very clear, with lots of examples and exercises. I'm french and I use it to work on English grammary.
