    Hi all,

I have five years experience traveling and buying electronic merchandise from China, I am keen to now set up a business in China to export myself, but no one seems to understand or have the time to be a little more cooperative to explain how this is done, I am sure there may be law firms that can assist, but I would like to hear from anyone who has brilliant knowledge of how to set up a Trading Business in China. So, I would like to know all about the company registration procedure, the fees applicable and if there are any competent law firms etc., then please share with me.

    Thanks a lot!
    Barker Hicks :)

I think the usual procedure is to do it through local companies, specialised in setting up companies in China, that do the all job, as it is complicated in term of administrative procedure, especially for a foreigner.

    Hello Barber,

regarding the company registration procedure and the fees applicable when seeting up his company, I would recommend you the China Law Firm (http://www.chinalawblog.com that deals with these topics and that earns quite a good reputation these last years in the expat community regarding the establisment of foreign companies in China.

As regards the business you want to set up , have you any idea about the legal form of your future company ?
Roughly, there is three main legal forms through which you may invest in China:
    1) The representative office
    2)The WFOE ( Wholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise)
    3) the Joint Venture (JV)

The choice of the legal form depends on different criteria such as your business field, your budget, business plan, etc.
I invite you to consult this article :http://www.ins-globalconsulting.com/blog/content/management-china that develops more deeply the points I put forward above.

    Best regards,
    Simon

    Hi Barker,

I was working for a trading company in Shanghai. I suggest you to register your company in HK to avoid some certain taxes.

Let me know it you have more questions.
