I found my husband has an affair with a Filipino woman early this year. I gave him another chance to rebuild our marriage. Last month, I found a sponsor letter from him to Philippines Embassy to sponsor her to come to the UK in the period I will be away for business trip. I questioned him about this and he said the visa was rejected. I can't prove whether it's true or not. His sponsor letter even said would plan to apply marriage visa with that Filipino woman.

So is it illegal for married man to sponsor mistress to the UK as a general visitor with the purpose to know each other and plan to marry while not divorce with his wife?

That might well be the reason why the visa was rejected... In any case planning to get married with someone while already married is illegal and cannot be used as a support reason. It would have raised suspicions from the Customs officer for sure...

Although it isn't quite related to this forum but it's update about my first post.

After back to home and found out she got visa to the UK and stayed in the house while I was away. So it proves the embassy doesn't consider whether the sponsor is married or not but still approve the visa based on the reasons of planning to meet other to ensure they want to marry in the future.

I wish it was a story to take it easy and nothing happen.

When I was walking with my dog and saw my neighbour, I wasn't happy because my husband had a row with me so I walked out the house with the dog to have a break. My neighbour saw tears around my eyes and asked me what's going on and I told her it's something about relationship. She didn't quite want to tell me at first but finally told me she saw him with an Asian woman walking from the house together.

I asked him the truth and he admits she was here. The visa was approved after they appealed. Or maybe it was approved first time but he lie it was rejected to prevent I changed my business trip to stay home.

Just prove UK embassy doesn't consider the sponsor's marital status to sponsor opposite sex even the reasons in the sponsor letter asked to know each other before planning getting married.

In theory you can always sponsor a friend. So depending how he presented things to the authorities, it might not have raised suspicions.
