    I intend to relocate to Spain in July with my family. I have been looking at various possible locations from Costa de la Luz to Almeria, where the cost of living looks to be very attractive. However I am now looking at the Valencia area,(not the city but the province) where property prices are very good. My question is, how does the cost of living compare with England and the other areas of Spain. I am looking to survive in early retirement without joining the work rat race! Any comments would be appreciated.

    What about the average cost to rent a flat???? And how difficult is it to attain one?

    As for renting, this can vary depending on town and villages. Generally can be cheap. Very much dependant if you sign a yearly contract. As rent obviously rises during the summer periods !!
    Personally i do not advise to rent when buying a property abroad. Normally your capital is reduced and not you are as committed or not in the right frame of mind as you should be when buying a property.

    Like many others I am thinking of retiring to Spain (Andalucia).

    Juanito2004 gives £400-£500 a year as living costs? What does this cover?

    Friends in Andalucia suggested that what you could get for £1 in the UK (not London) would cost about one euro in Andalucia. Do any of you agree with either of these estimates?
