Hi guys,i live in Uk and my gf just been rejected today for tourist visa.
She applied with invitation letter from me offering her accomodation(i am a house owner and i sent my ownership certificate) but i didn't specify we are in a relationship. And invitation letter from EPS office inviting her to practice for her thesis due in february. Her prof wrote a letter as well inviting her to do some practice in the uk for her studies.
I don't know what to do. We both were so sure to obtain it that now i feel lost...please i need advice! :(

I'm so sorry to hear about the refusal. That is really frustrating. What visa was she applying for specifically? Student or perspective student; or was she trying for general visitor? The UK Border agency provides detailed info on each of these visas (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... /visiting/) and what to do in case of refusal, as does our Guide to London and article on Obtaining a Visa to Live, Study and Work: the United Kingdom.

In general, visa decisions are made by carefully checking your application, immigration history and supporting documents, to see whether you meet the Immigration Rules. If we cannot make an immediate decision, they may need to interview you.

If we refuse your application for a visa or to enter the UK, our immigration officer or entry clearance officer will send or give you a notice of refusal. This document will list the reasons for the refusal, and will tell you whether you have the right to appeal. The notice will also give you advice on where to send your appeal. You can find more detailed information on our Appeals page (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... o/appeals/).

What reasons did they list? And it does detail the appeal process correct? Hopefully this helps you understand how to proceed. Please feel free to follow-up with questions and let us know how the process goes for you. And if anyone has tips or experience - please do share!

Hi,thanks for the answer. She applied for general visitor because we thought was easier to get with the following documents : 1)my invitation letter offering accomodation 2)my house ownership certificate 3)my passport(copy) 4)invitation letter with signature and logo of EPS(letting agency of offices which offered a period of practice for her studies) 5)her parents pay slips and bank statement(because she doesn't work and actually one of the main reason of the refusal she thinks is the fact that she doens't have a job...!) 6)her professor's letter inviting her to try a period of practice in EPS(but in macedonian...and in the refusal they actually explain that they can't understand macedonian.
So one of the reason is the language(but i know would be easy to translate them and appeal), another reason is that they don't know if she will stay in the Uk longer than the dates asked in the application, because nothing prove to them that she has to come back to Macedonia. We are thinking to appeal, but we are not sure yet. Another option was the fiance visa but apparently it is much harder to get... we don't really know what to do. It was really unexpected and it just devastated us.
    Thanks for your interest.

Definitely get your documents translated if you try for an appeal. Spend the money on an official translation (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... /evidence/):

Also, I would also consider the perspective student visa. The FAQ section hods the basics of many of these visas:
UK: How do I obtain a study permit?
What is a UK Fiance Visa?

I would also recommend consulting an immigration lawyer. Though expensive, they can be a great guide through the difficult work of visas. I really encourage you to study these resources and try again. Absolutely best of luck & please share with us your experiences. And if anyone else has tips & advice - please share!
