Would an American be allowed legally to stay in Ireland as long one did not a) seek employment, and b) did not use Irish welfare; and as long as one did go to N Eire or Wales every 89 days?

Can anyone explain to a blind person what individual sections of Dublin are like to a blind uninitiate? What's residential good, bad; what's industrial good, bad etc? No neighborhood names please as I don't know them; but say the ten square miles north of famouse landmark are such and such.

    Thank you.

I would recommend starting with the guide to Dublin. It offers information on visasetc. There are options for staying in Ireland long term, but it is important to acquire the proper visas.

It looks like the best resource for the blind in Ireland is through the National Council for the Blind in Ireland. Anyone have personal experience in Ireland or with services for the blind?

You can't just pop out and pop in to Northern Ireland every 89 days. You are allowed a stay of 90 days WITHIN every six months. So suppose you arrive on 1 January and move out on 30 March, you shouldn't be coming back before 1 July.

    Good luck !

    Thanks, both.

I did not realize the time restrictions. I'd ask about the proper visas for long term stays, but it seems pretty much an impossible dream, now.

Nothing is impossible, but it is important to do things legally. Good luck! :D
