Congrats on successfully obtaining a spousal visa! That can be quite difficult as you'll see on the many questions on the forum. Any advice for other people applying?

As to your question, the Expat Guide to London is the perfect place to start. It has been newly updated and includes information on finding work. You can also connect with expats on the network, or through expat blogs.

Let us know what questions you have and how things are going. Anyone else have tips?

What sort of help do you need? If it is regarding a job, you are just in line with millions of other people unfortunatelly. You can find some guidance in our guide for expatriates in London/UK.

I havent been in the job industry for a while,,as i have been self employed back in Nigeria with buying and selling clothes,,so i wouldnt mind starting off with something say ,,receptionist or customer service......i just want to know if i can just send in applications,,,or have to wait a bit,,as i have been told that i might have to wait 6months before i could be considered job wise...and i dont to sit on my butt waiting to qualify.....for whatever...Thanks for the links will check them out...

As per the visa,,,the only problem was waiting the full 12weeks for the visa to come out....and it's working days only,,,but the key thing i noticed, was that it's best to give them the basic documents they want,,,dont add anything more,,and dont leave anything out....
They asked for 8 documents in total and that is what was given...all original documents.
They are : the marriage certificate, the pictures to show that we have met before(including the wedding pictures)utility bills showing both our names, the english test result(IELTS),bank statements, employment letter and payment slip, evidence of accomodation,(council tax receipts will do,or copy of a house deed in any case) evidence of divorce in case any of us have been married before.....all these from my partner as he is the sponsor......oh at the embassy they will give you an aknowledgement letter that your sponsor(partner) will sign,,so it will be easier to go there get the form or print it out from the website,,have them sign it and give back to you.......
After that there wont be any reason for them to refuse the application...I gave them Everything they asked,,didnt give them anything else,,as that tend to complicate things and have them find faults where there is none....I think that helpes....if i think of anything or anyone have any questions regarding on how i managed that i'll be happy to answer to the best of my knowledge :)
