I'm a foreigner living 30 minutes outside Milan and really need to improve my Italian, I would be interested in meeting up to speak English and visit different places in the city

Center you mean like Duomo?
Alternatively, I could think of Largo La Foppa (M Moscova) some nice bars etc. around there, or meet at porta Ticinese as there are plenty of places (at least I heard ;-) )
