we live near marbella and its very expensive to live and work here, a cheap 2 bed apartment will set you back about 700 euros a month if your near the coast, you will also have to pay 2 months up front plus sometimes an agents fee... be very careful with agents they will rip you of with deposits !!!! work is getting more difficult here lots of english speaking work but theres a big english work force so employers can hire and fire at will, also these areas are suffering from lack of tourism at the moment, winter is the best time to get a long let but not many jobs about, best advice for here is to come over just after xmas get a place and look for work but have enough funds behind you to last till summer work starts..

Did you make it? I am Spanish by birth, but have lived in the USA for years & am married to an american. My eyes about popped out of my head when I read your message as we are in the preliminary phase of considering a move to Valencia.
