1 - Thats absolutely wrong. UAE is quite a westernized place and even though its a Muslim country and 'freedom' has its limits, its certainly not the case that women are not allowed to walk alone or anything of that sort. Also, you will be about 20 times safer than anywhere in Europe.

2 - That sounds like good money to me but how much money you would spend depends more on your lifestyle rather than the place. I know people living a decent life there for less than 10,000 Dirhams.

If I were you, I would definitely go for it. Its a cool place, no taxes to pay, cheap fuel and no winter !
