    Hi,

I'm from the US and just received a job offer from a company in Berlin. I've never been to Europe so this is all new to me.

Can someone please provide insight into what the income taxes are like in Berlin? Example - if I were to make 57,000 EUR gross a year, what would my net monthly take home pay be?

Do companies cover health insurance, or is that an expense I have to cover?

From what I can tell it looks like utilities like electric and heat are covered in the price of rent, but as far as small expenses like cable tv, internet, and Cell Phones - what should I expect to pay for those on a monthly basis?

Thank you in advance for all your help. Any other advice you think I should know (considering I know nothing about Berlin or Germany or Europe) - I'd love to hear it.

Also, if you are an American citizen living abroad you still must file a U.S Income Tax Return each year on your worldwide income. Therefore, if you aren't filing your tax return USA, the statute of limitations on tax collections will not run out and your tax return obligation (and perhaps the taxes you owe) only grows greater as each year. Not filling your taxes is a criminal offense and can go to jail. On the other hand, you can exclude up to 92,900 of your income if you meet the physical presence test. In order to meet such test you should :

    1. Establish your abode in a foreign country
    2. Meet either the Physical Presence test or the bona fide residence test

    Hope I helped?

    bye
