My name is Gaby (this is my latine alterego ) and I am currently working as an Au Pair in the center of Madrid. My main goal is to learn Spanish hence I am taking daily spanish classes. My tasks as Au Pair are very limited (lucky me) so ive got a lot of spare time. My Spanish is reasonable now and I also speak a bit of german and my mother tongue is Dutch. Last monday I went to the weekly Couchsurfing meeting and met loads of great people. My name is Jess, and I'm travelling to Madrid (30th August), to start work as an aupair.
However, my Spanish isn't particularly intelligible atm - so I am looking for fellow travellers to meet up with!

hello all potential newcomers to Madrid
Ok most of you will probably arrive, it's quiet here at the moment as most people are away for August but will be returning in September!
Jessica will be ok but Emma, I strongly suggest you get some Spanish under your belt before you arrive, Madrileños aren't always ready to break into English

Emma, what kind of work will you be doing? I'm working in Finance and credit cards here.

 

I will be working for an English speaking financial planning company, who deal with expats. So Spanish is not essential foru job.
I plan to take an intesive Spanish course when I arrive though, so it's easier to fit in and make friends.
