    ---- 14 year rule?

    A Moroccan guy came to UK in 1992 and overstayed. He was deported in 1997 when caught Immig officers raid on his work place. But he came back to UK (illegally) the same year (1997) and is still in the UK.

    Working - using his genuine Nat Ins Number and paying the usual taxes.
    Fathered a daughter to whom he is paying Child Support since 2008.
    No criminal record.

    It's almost 14 years now. Does the 14 year rule apply in his case?

    I got conflicting answers to my question from two solicitors. So I am not sure now.

    Your help is much appreciated.

    The 14 year rule does exist but you will need to consult a solicitor to know if he would be able to take any benefit of it or not since its always complicated.

    I don't understand though how can have a national insurance number and pay the usual taxes if he is illegal. This would certainly be a fraud i.e. crime.
