My family and I moved to Paris this past summer. We are currently living in the 16eme and are a 2 minute walk to our daughters' school. We've never lived in an apartment before and even though a large, nice park is across the street, I very much miss living in a private house with a private garden.

Also, is it normal to hear every footstep of our neighbors? I am constantly on my girls about being quiet in hopes that we are not too disturbing to our neighbors below. This is driving me NUTS!!! We are in a very residential neighborhood so I don't feel like I live in the center of Paris.

We are considering moving schools next year for various reasons. Because I insist on being close to school, this means a move. We are looking at Marymount in Neuilly-sur-Seine. Is it possible to be in a house in the surrounding areas w/in a minutes drive or should we move to the 8th on M1 and continue to try to experience truly living in Paris?

    Please give me your opinions....

    Hi,
i would also suggest all the western suburbs (hauts de seine 92 and yvelines 78), i've been living there for years and it's really nice and close to paris by public transportation. St germain en laye, le vésinet, le chesnay, versailles... And so on! Have a look at louveciennes too, not a big city but very residential neighborhood and very quiet.

I don't know how old are your daughters but there is an excellent american school with boarding quarters' option there (have a look at the website: nisparis.com). American curriculum leading to the us high school diploma mainly taught by american teachers, some courses taught in french too!

Feel free to contact me if you need further advices! :)

Hmmm if you earn a lot (I mean A LOT), you can get a house (actually more a Hotel Particulier!) in Neuilly... but if you are not a millionaire, I would suggest as others in this topics to look at the "proche banlieue" for more affordable accommodation and quality schools.

    Hola!

I've just realised that lilia22 was talking about notre-dame international high school, this school organises an open day next week, on friday june 25th 2010, from 2:30 to 5:30. I enrolled at it some weeks ago, course begins early september 2010. It's actually a bilingual school (french/american) located near paris which enables you to prepare the us high school diploma, and as a mexican girl, that was really interesting for me !!

I'm looking forward to taking part to this open day to visit the school and campus and meet some of my future teachers :p

by the way, i called celine for more information about notre dame international high school, she's in charge of the school, don't hesitate to call her to get more information, she's very available and helpful!
