    Hi to all!

Quick but I guess crucial question which is about money

My girlfriend/wife to be will be applying for an EEA Family permit from Mozambique however what's the minimum required in terms of savings?
I'm French man who's been living in the UK for 7 years.

    Thanks for all answers.

She has to be your wife to apply for EEA FP in the first place. Girl-friend is not entitled to it because she is not a family member.

Secondly, what do you do in UK ? are you exercising your treaty rights ? You will need to give a bit more information.

    Hey Yousafzai,

I thought ummarried partners were also considered as extented family members?

    http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply ... ionals#Q13

    http://www.visabureau.com/uk/family-per ... rried.aspx

Sorry but what do you mean by "exercising my treaty rights"?

I came to study in this country 7 years ago and have now being working for one year for the same company in Search Marketing.

    Thanks

Yes thats correct but in this case, you will need to have proof that you have lived together for two years which I assumed you haven't.

If you have lived together for at least two years and you have documentary proof of it ( utility bills etc ) then sure you can apply for her visa under the unmarried partner category.

I asked about treaty rights because your girl-friend/wife can apply for visa only if you are exercising your treaty rights which is working, studying or running a business. Each of them has then different documentation to follow but anyway, since you are working, that means you are exercising your treaty rights hence no worries.

    Good luck

Yes you assumed correctly we live together but that was far from being two years.

What do you think would be the best option to bring her and marry her in the UK? Because to obtain the Marriage visa and bring her here we need to be...married in the first place...unless we get married in her country...

    Thanks

You have got two options here.

First would be that she applies for Fiance visa which is specifically issued for people in your situation i.e. if somebody wants to travel to UK to get married there.

Besides the usual requirement, you will also need to have a Registration Certificate - you can always apply for it if you don't have and it should be issued quick since you are a French national. Shouldn't take more than a few days.

Second option is that you go to her, get married and then apply for EEA Family Permit.

    Good luck

Yes she MUST mention in the form that she is married and include your name/other details otherwise you can have problems with your EEA Family Permit to join her in UK.

    Good luck

Re: EEA Family permit & Savings amount...

    Hello everybody,

I have some questions to ask , please if someone know about eea family permit,
frankly my intentions are that i want to join my italian girlfriend in uk and to live and work there too. but i can see some difficulties in applying the visa EEA Family Permit.. As Unmarried, and will explain to you what it is still makes me very confused :

    - My italian girlfriend she's live and work in the uk with no permanent residence!!
    - She doesn't own or rent a home, just shares a single room with the other persons in a apartement, <do not have a contract of rent>,
    - I've heard that if we plan to apply for EEA Family Permit, we have to proof that we have lived together for 2 years, how we could proof that? we know each other 2 years now but never lived together just visiting each other for few days.

    Thank you!

Re: EEA Family permit & Savings amount...

like i read its ur gril friend not your wife so u must aplly for VAF4 not familly permit
if u are maried its not necesary that you lived toghter befor for 2 years
and italien no need premenat resident they have right to work and like in UK cause they are from EU
so to have FP you msut be maried to each other
    but yo can join her

Re: EEA Family permit & Savings amount...

I think u can only apply for EEA2 if u r married, or unmarried BUT have proof u have lived together for 2 yrs (visiting and spending a few weeks/ days does not work as a proof)...
I was in same situation and our only option was to apply for fiance visa and get married in UK within 6 months. Then u can apply for EEA2...
As Djabea said, u dont need proof once u're married but the fiance visa application needs proof that u have been in constant contact with ur fiancee (pictures, msn, emails, phone bills, flight tickets that u have visited...)
As a European, u become resident after 5 yrs too so ur gf wont need a resident certificate if she has proof of living here for the past yrs....

Re: EEA Family permit & Savings amount...

as a european u can live and work in UK as long as u want... how long she has been in uk???
But Djabea is right, she does not need any residence permit... just that if she has been here 5 yrs, she can ask for a certificate and it will help ur application...
But tourist visa does not allow work or marriage so be careful with that...

Re: EEA Family permit & Savings amount...

yeah yeah thanks both of u again,
in fact shes been in uk 8 months then she returned to italy for 3 months of summer then she shes there now again, about a month n half. so  i feel like there is no way brothers!! i really wanna go to join her there to live and work too. but its kind dificulte as i see maybe, for a fiance visa she need a permanent residence to invite me because she must be living there at least 3 years or 5 years to be able to ask for it. even shes a european citizen!!! i wish the uk cancel the visa and be a part or european countries, like the other countries too, :x
any tips ? which visa better? what should i do!

    Grazie!!!
