Maybe soon we'll graduate to our very own Polish Immigration forum, instead of an endless thread in the UK Immigration Forum? ;-)
Hey! That's an idea... but the advantage of getting the messages in the same thread is that everybody who commented in the thread gets an alert... which is not the case when you create a new topic in a forum... So what is the best, what do you suggest and if we have a forum, what should be the title (because afterwards, it is immigration to UK...)
@ EasyExpat You probably don't want to read through the incredibly long thread, so I summarized it. What this thread is really all about is "Polish Citizenship Confirmation". People who have Polish ancestry and need to apply to Poland to receive recognition/confirmation of their Polishness. Some of the topics we cover in this thread are: Polish citizenship confirmation application process (documents to submit, translation requirements, wait times), Polish citizenship laws Acts 1920, 1951 & 1962, Polish citizenship confirmation eligibility, Proving Polish citizenship documentation and evidence, Getting your Polish passport/PESEL after you have a positive confirmation and Polish citizenship confirmation lawyers. To other forum users: If I made any incorrect statements, claims or I missed something... please add it/fix it.
Hi all It would be nice to have this thread and the 2 previous ones migrate (pardon the pun) to our own little area. That way the other 2 parts can be included here as a downloadable pdf file to be read at your leisure. Not only that, maybe our new area could be broken down into different sections covering the different citzienship acts, where to get the various documents on deceased (or living) relatives, a section where lawyers or other groups that provide services to obtain these documents or citizenship help and a rough idea how much it might cost. Maybe we can get Curious George to help act as moderator with Harjeet as assistant. But it would be nice to have links included to various organizations in regards to where people can obtain documents on their own if they have the information at hand and need an official document. There must be some searchable databases that have free access where people can search for information. The other thing to is about where to get information relating to finding out if a person filed for being relieved of their citizenship relating to a citizenship act. For example, I do not know if my grandparents gave up their citizenship since relatives either do not know themselves or are covering up something. Since my grandparents left Poland in 1946, got married in Germany in 1949 and emigrated to Canada in January 1951. My relatives are very reluctant in letting me see any documents relating to my grandparents, so I am trying to obtain the documents from other sources.
If it were me I would do this, I would make the category Immigration to Poland, and we move our thread there. We rename our thread [part 3] to Polish Citizenship Confirmation [part 3], and other people interested in marriage to get citizenship, studying and other topics related to Poland, can make their own threads under Immigration to Poland. If you decide on leaving things as they are I would still recommend the title to part 3 be change to "Polish Citizenship Confirmation [part 3]" because it is a better description of what we do. I think the title is especially important for google searches because I would think most people would find a consulate site and see that what they need to do is apply for "confirmation of polish citizenship" and then search for it as a topic. I am also making the assumption most people find us through search engines. I think created a misunderstanding, I only listed the topics so EasyExpat would know what we do here without reading, but I think everything falls under the title/topic Polish Citizenship Confirmation. I DO NOT think we should split Polish Citizenship into the subcategories: Polish citizenship confirmation application process (documents to submit, translation requirements, wait times), Polish citizenship laws Acts 1920, 1951 & 1962, Polish citizenship confirmation eligibility, Proving Polish citizenship documentation and evidence, Getting your Polish passport/PESEL after you have a positive confirmation and Polish citizenship confirmation lawyers. @gjene I really like the idea of being able to download part 1 & 2 as a file, perhaps pdf? It would make searching very convenient. @curiousgeorge Since you recommend our own forum, can you give us your vision of how you would do it?
Here it is! You have now a specific forum for Immigration to Poland. I renamed the previous post [3] to Polish Citizenship Confirmation and separated from the discussion on creating a forum for Polish topics. What is this forum about? Now I need some moderators. I thought about Harjeet (as he was the first one to contact me on this topic and I took his suggestions) and obviously curiousgeorge (with 168 posts, you deserve it!). Can you contact me through PM if you agree? Any help is welcome anyway... I listen to suggestions
Hi All People have been asking questions about Polish citizenship and how to obtain it in the website 'Polishforums'. Most questions are in the genealogy section. Whenever I have seen any of these questions, I have made reference to this website and forum in particular. It is not to disparage the moderators or members of that site. My way of thinking is that section is not the best spot to be asking or getting answers. Most on that site may not know all the answers or be able to handle those types of questions. I have made reference in most of those questions to the 3 pts of the citizenship forum here. I have no idea if any of them have looked here for the answers to their questions. Is there any way of making a posting on that website in reference to this forum? Especially if someone is looking into trying to get Polish citizenship. Thanks. Besides, it would be a good way of twinning that website with this forum in particular.
You mean making a post on the website 'Polishforums' to refer to the "Immigration to Poland" on EasyExpat? We have no link with Polishforums so it is up to them to link with us I think, or up to the users ion their website to make a link referring to discussions on EasyExpat.
I see. It was worth it to ask ayways. Any further questions that are asked like that on that website in regards to gaining citizenship, I will refer them here. I guess that is all I can do. Thanks. Gary
