    Hi Risen,

    congrats...

Long time we then still have to wait.

By the way. We traveled last weekend with an FP out of data and no residence card. We had all the documentation with us and a good reason - my brothers weeding. But we had no problem to re-enter. The agent had a look at the passport, asked three questions and let us pass.

    Cheers,
    Thomas

Got the docs back! Well, that means complaint to North West Customer Service Unit is the most effective.

    My summary:
    20/Aug/2008 Applied for EEA2
    5/May2009 Complaint to Solvit
18/May/2009 Complaint to North West Customer Service Unit
12/Jun/2009 Caseworker assigned and request to send the most recent paysilps
    19/Jun/2009 Requested documents sent
    23/Jun/2009 EEA2 sticked into passport

    Good luck to everyone else!

It would be interesting to know, if it takes more time, if you do not complain?

    Cheers,
    Thomas

Thomas, there are some people still waiting for a caseworker to be assigned who applied earlier than us, therefore, I'm assuming that complaints make things work faster. It might be coincidence, I don't know their criteria of application processing queue.

    Dear All,
I just wanted to share my story with you. My partner and I applied for the EEA2 in August 2008. It was a very stressful time for both of us and we felt like our future is uncertain. We applied through our lawyer. After a month we got the COA. After 10 months of waiting nothing was happening and even though we tried to live normal life this thing was always somewhere there on our mind. We decided to complain via email. After that we received a standard letter with apologies stating that they are now allocating a case worker (after 10 months, wow). Two weeks later we got a phone call from our lawyer saying that our papers are back:) I really think the complaint helped.
Therefore guys please don't lose hope. It really is just a matter of time and you too will get your papers. All I can say we have been through a lot, it was hard at times and emotional, but we made it and you will too.
As a saying goes: when life hits you on the head, take a bow and say thank you. I feel for everyone who is going through this situation but you are not alone and it will make you stronger in the end.
By the way, I don't even have to say that but I am totally shocked that the HO is treating us this way in the 21 century in a free country like UK.

    Love and Peace

I agree with cloudnumber9... My husband & I had been patiently waiting for over a year to hear something (anything!) back from the Home Office. We tried calling and writing to them many times, which never got us anywhere. We could never get through and got no response whatsoever. Finally, we decided to lodge a complaint on the UKBA website (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/conta ... complaint/)
and I'm happy to say this actually seemed to move the process along rather quickly! After a week or so we got a letter of apology back from the H.O., stating that a case worker would be assigned to our case. Three weeks after that, the H.O. requested that we send in some final documentation, and then today (about 2 weeks later) we FINALLY got our residence card!

After 14 months of waiting, the complaint made all the difference and finally got things moving! I would definitely recommend it :)

After 14 months of hopeless waiting I finally received residence card. I have had to file a complaint to the NWCSU. I am confident that for me this was the way out of the tunnel as they simply didn't look my case before that for an entire year.

I should note that the situation is slowly improving with processing EEA applications although I have seen myself the worst standard of service the home office could offer. Good luck to anyone applying.

    hi all,
i'll try to make my story short.
My civil partner and I applied for an EEA2 in oct 2008, received the COA a month later. My south african partner left for Xmas, applied for a 6 month family permit to re-enter in the UK and got it in 3 days (at the time we had to ask for all the docs back). I joined her in jan 2009 for holiday, we traveled back together, passed the customs easy.
Back in the UK, we wanted to send our docs and passports back, i called in early feb and they said a caseworker will call to ask things back when needed.
At that time, we just though everything was running normal.
The thing is, i wanted to know what was going on in march, but then unable to contact them. I called everyday, 3 times a day, and got this message on the phone "we are experiencing a high level of calls, we cant take your call atm, please try again later, GOODBYE". That voice drives me completely nuts!!!

Last april I sent the enveloppe from the english consulate in SA, all the docs used to get the family permit, to liverpool, lot of evidence.

We moved in may, still nothing from them, unable to contact them, so i sent another letter saying we changed address + wtf is going on!

My question to all of u:
do u guy manage to talk to them over the phone??
if yes, could u tell the number? cause EEA2 one is a dead line!

after reading your stories, i now know that i can complain!! how does this work though, this North West Customer Service Unit. where can i find the address to sent my complaint?

HO ppl are crazy!Sometimes i just dont get it!
As a few of you said, we cant travel!! UK cities are pretty but come on now, what about seeing smth else!

My partner is going back again for Xmas this year and will have to apply for a family permit again, we'll manage to find other evidence.
I think this time we'll apply for a residence card from SA.
The HO is chasing illegal immigrants right, they should deliver permits and cards quicker then, so ppl dont have to stay here illegally!

Good luck to all of u, our situations suck really!

    Hello libicca

Sorry about your ordeal with EEA2. I thought I share some of our experience with you.
The number to call is 0845 010 5200 followed by options 0 3 2. It can be busy at times but you just got to keep phoning again and again.

The address where complaint is to be sent is: North West Region CSU, PO Box 99, Manchester M90 3WW. You can check it on their website in the complaints section. Mention your name and any home office ref or case ref and in a very normal language tell them your story. It may sound silly but you got to make a real case of why they should look your case or "speed it up". just explain how disadvantaged you are by the waiting and remind them about their breach of the 6 months rule.

Do not expect a response earlier than 3 weeks or 1 month afterwards. If things go well your complaint will provoke a case worker to be assigned to your case and you may receive a letter asking for further information or docs i.e. pay slips etc. In all cases it is only a matter of time so keep smiling.

Waste no more time. No MP or a solicitor or anybody else will be able to help so just contact them directly and hopefully you'll see it through.

    @Theinspirerd

Thanks for the informative response to Libicca. Just wanna add a new number (01516725626,option 232) which can be used to reach the HO as well and absolutely free of charge if your calling from a BT landline.
    Hope this helps. Good Luck!
