    Hi all,

I applied for a resident card on 12 August 2008, and recieved my confirmation letter from HO after 6 weeks. Its been little over 2 months i have applied for resident card, and i know i takes 6 months to get it.

I am an Indian national and my father is Dutch national. I need to travel to USA becaues of a family emergency. US embasy requires proof of residency in UK to issue USA visa. I have been told that if i request my passport back from HO they will with draw my application and wont issue me a resident card.
Is there any way i can get my passport back with the resident permit before 6 months. I really need to travel asap.

what should i do? any suggest

    thank you

You application will be considered on the basic of all evidences you provided.
A fact that you have asking you passport will not affected a decision of you application maybe a delay

,What is you current status in uk?
if you have not status at the time you made you application ,home office will take at least 1 years to make a decision or more .
But if you have a status, that will take 8 to 9 months to get a decision.

Yes when a home office will be ready to make a decision on you case a caseworker will asking for a 3 months paid slip of you dad because to delivery a residence card you dad have to excising he treaty right in uk (work).
but if you dad change a job let a home office no soon as possible by record delivery letter with a new contract and one paid slip.
