    Hello All,

Please can anyone advise me. I have a South African citizenship and moved to Spain with my Polish spouse 3months ago. Since then I got a residence card valid for 5 years but what I would really like is a Spanish passport.

Could anyone advise how long it would take to be able to apply for a Spanish passort as the non EEA spouse of an EEA national living in Spain?

    Spanish passport : EEA nationals

    Hi all,

I am a non EEA national of an EEA national (Poland). I have 2 kids that have Polish passports. I would like to apply for Spanish passports for them. My question is when can I apply for Spanish passports for my kids. They were born in the UK but we now live in Spain.

    Thanks!

It used to be 3 years of marriage but I think now is 5 years and you need to reside in Spain and apply for Spanish Nationality and then renounce to your South African citizenship. The best thing is to ask in the Spanish Consulate.

normally for the old eu citezens need 5 years to get a new eu citezenship (i dont know if its the same for the new eu country like poland, romania and so on) i hope so
so your wife must apply for spanish citezenship then when she got the new citezenship you can apply too ( it takes other 2-3 years)

or if you want, you can apply it directly but would take around 10 yrs. so i guess you'd better choose the first option
