    Hi There,

Me and my wife are looking for a country to which we can easily stay indefintly by going out and back every 3 months in order to renew Visa.

We used to do that in Turkey, as it was perfectly legal to go out even for 24 hours and back in again every 3 months in order to renew Visa. It was also possible to obtain a temporary residence permit for 1 year by simply opening a local bank account and depositing some cash and just show the authorities that you have a few thousands to live, that's all that was required.

Since we are not looking for work permits because we are just programmers working as freelancers for other countries. Just a country that we can go out and get back to easily renew visa. In Europe for example, that is impossible because if you can only stay for up 3 months at a time and then leave for a whole 3 months before coming back. So any company in the European Union is out of the question, though other options may be possible. And we also prefer it to be a good and safe country to live in and not a risky one.

Anyone with exprience, feel free to reply.

I think that will be difficult in any western country. Apart from the visa problem, you will also need a work permit, and you will have to pay taxes in most places. The location of your employer does not matter too much, as long as the work is done in country, and you are residing there, you are subject to the local law.

I think you should look at a medium term visa (a lot of companies have visas for a year or two), and then find a tax exemption (lots of those around, too).

Thank you for reply. Since we do not really work, and do not even need a bank account in the destination country, but we are just staying home for most of the time what I really care is only about a place that allows to easily go and out and in every 3 months.

Let's say for this matter that I am not working, but rather living from compensation money I received when I quite my last job. So I am living as a retiree, only difference is that I am 35yrs old. We used to live in Turkey like that, going in and out every 3 months and it worked well, however for other reasons we are looking for a different country.

    Thanks

That sounds a lot easier. A lot of countries have long term visitor visas, although maybe only up to 1 year. But I do not know any western country where the trick with going out and in again still works - they all have a "cool off" period or a cumulative time limit.
