    Dear all,

I have a question regarding a UK Family Visa.

My wife is from Taiwan and we live in Germany where she is on a perminant residence permit. I am German and about to start work on a project in the UK for 3 months, which is very fresh news. Just last month I went over to the UK together with my wife for a couple of days simply for holidays. She came on a Family Permit which she had previously applied for and which is now still valid for 5 months (6 months validity in total). We flew to the UK together.

Now, I'll be in the UK for three months and my wife thinks about visiting me for a week or so since the Family Permit allows multiple entry. On the Visa it says: "VISA EEA FP: TO ACC SPOUSE".

My question: can my wife travel to the UK independently when I am ALREADY in the UK? The Family Permit was applied for as a holiday permit and not with me working or being resident in the UK. I am not resident there anyway, I am just doing this project and will be going back to Germany again. How does this work? Would I need to wait at the airport in case there are any questions?

Thanks a lot for your help!

    Best wishes,
    Georg

Yes, she can, but I would recommend that she takes some proof of your residence along. This is because she is only allowed to enter the UK if she is travelling with you, or you are already there. An official letter or a hotel booking should be ok.

In theory this should not be necessary, because the EEA Family Permit was activated with an entry stamp when you both came to the UK for the first time. But you never know how the officer interprets the situation.

    Thank you

    Thanks, Tom.

But is it a problem that for the Visa I've signed a document confirming that I "will be accompanying my wife to the UK"? In other words: this Visa has been issued on the grounds of us travelling to the UK "together".

But, yes, the visa has been stamped and as you mentioned thereby been activated! I just don't want to cause problems to my wife and be sure to do the right thing.

Thanks a lot for all your help!

    Best wishes,
    Georg
