CONGRATULATIONS Lapkapups!!! Really well done on being proactive.

My application just went over 4 months so I have some time to wait before a complaint is valid.

    Tell me though:

    1. When exactly did you apply?
    2. What valid visa were you on before
    3. What supporting documents did you provide as proof of treaty rights being exercised?

I have tried calling the liverpool (01612611117) a couple of times and all I get is a prompt to leave a msg because of high call volumes. :(

I am still hopeful that by July I would get some good news, otherwise I will push for a resolution!

Once again, congrats to you. Now you can resume a normal and free life!

    Thank you! :D

    here are the answers:
    - I applied on 20th November
    - I was on a student visa before (which expired in December 2007)
    - We provided only my passport, my husband's ID, marriage certificate and one payslip. They did request additional info, though, in May, his latest payslip and a job letter and his passport in addition to his ID. We provided everything same date we received the request.

It's better to call Liverpool early in the morning, as that's when I could get through.

    Good luck with your application!

    Thanks for the info.

I ask because my husband and I only supplied our passports, marriage certificate, one payslip and his registration certificate. I am just wondering if that would delay our application, but i've heard from quite a few people that the HO would usually ask for more info when needed.

I will keep my fingers crossed and hope that i'll be screaming for joy sooner than later!

Cheers and have a great year!

wating for my residency card/eea delay

Hey i'm really happy 4u on receiving your residency card after all the hasles you've been through.Phew! After waiting few days over a year since may 07 when i applied,i summoned up the courage to give them a call myself(D.I.Y) although my solicitor said he's been calling asking the reason for the delay but it was always the same story of "you'll here from us soon" which i was'nt satisfied with,i wanted to hear it myself.I spoke to an immigration officer who took my details then asked me to wait for moment to have a look, she came back saying "your application is still under consideration but we cant tell you when it'll be completed".I was gobsmacked cos this application was'nt meant to exceed six months and after all these while, they're still working on my application, for whatever reason i dont know.i made a complain to solvit online and they said i'll hear from them but i still have'nt heard anything from them.Anyway, felt i should seek more opinions from anyone with similar situation.Know what?TO SAY ITS FRUSTRATING IS JUST AN UNDERSTATEMENT,i dont know why these people are so inhuman, its just way out of order.

I feel your pain peace101. I have tried calling the liverpool number a few times but only get the option to leave a message. Can you please tell me what number you called to speak with an immigration officer?

Since wait we must, let us strive to approach each day patiently...

    Cheers

Re: wating for my residency card/eea delay

That is a shame. Unlike the Home Office, I found SOLVIT to be competent and reliable. They may be waiting for a response from the Home Office, of course, but it seems that they usually get a response within a few days. If it has been more than that, I would inquire again.

And of course you can talk to your solicitor. I am not sure you can get a court order for the Home Office to issue a residence card? But you can certainly claim damages, if you are significantly inconvenienced.

I'm sure they will ask you if they need anything else. Normally they don't but sometimes they ask for recent payslips as the ones submitted with the application are usually outdated by the time they start considering it.

I do definitely think that none of us should let them take more than 6 months. If we don't do anything things won't improve. We are living in the country where the laws are supposed to mean something and we should know our rights and stand for them.

I hope they ask for more documents soon as the silence is quite hard to live with day by day... I would just like to know (like everyone else!) how far into the process they are!

If the enquiry line says it's waiting consideration it means they have not started the application yet. If it says it's under consideration it means they've started and they will either decide it or ask for more docs. In any way they'll get in touch.

I think it quite commendable that you still contribute to these forums after getting your residence card. Shows selfless and good intentions. Well done!

Yes the HO, I know that they will contact me when they finally pull my details from the pile. What I wonder is if that would only happen within reasonable time by external pressure. I have not made that many calls to them (can never get through!) so don't even know if it's awaiting consideration or under consideration.

I'll try giving them a call again...

    Thank you :)

I called them twice every day (in the morning and in the afternoon). You have to hold for 10-15 mins but in the end you get through. For me it was not so difficult as I could call from the office for free  Not that there was any point in calling as they don't say anything else except the status. But at least I knew if there was any movement at all or not.

I think the 'terrier' approach is needed in such circumstances! Tried calling HO today and it was the same old message, "We're experiencing high call volumes please send a fax or email..." Am I just unlucky? :(

My wife just called to the London number (I guess the 020 and not the 0870 number) and got the usual reply:
    'under consideration'
'cannot say how long it will take further'
'no one can tell you how long'

but then she was recommened to write a letter to Croydon and was told that we would get an answer within two weeks. If not, please call again...

Well, I think we should give it a try at least.

For the record, our application was received January 16, i.e. we have now been waiting for about 5 months.

Thanks for the update 86ti. What number did your wife call exactly. If they say that her application is under consideration then that's good news! It means that it has been assigned to a caseworker who may be dealing with it as we speak!

I applied on the 30th of Jan and would be interested in knowing the status of my application.

    Cheers

The official number is 0870 6067766 but as I don't like 0870 numbers I usually go to Say no to 0870 and try to find an alternative.
If you search the database with the number above you will get 020 70354848. I think effectively you'll call to the same place but hopefully for a cheaper price.

You may also look just for 'Home Office' which may give you some more usefule number.

    Liverpool office

Some people reported here that they went straight to the Croydon office to enquire about their application. Do we have anyone having popped into the Liverpool office?
