    Hi,

Me and my GF (French) are planning a civil partnership after living together for almost 2 years in london. We've been living on and off before settling together since last 6 or so months.

The british COA route costs a fortune so we've decided to get a french civil partnership PACS from french embassy in london. I'm a pakistani student living in london since 5 years now. I've got NI number, been paying taxes and all, my study visa is still valid for almost 11 months.

Q.1. Is Flr(M) the right form for me to apply for my visa extension enabling me to get a 2 year stay before i'm eligible to apply for IDLR?

Q.2. Is above option the best long term route for me towards getting a permanent UK residency? How long will i have to wait?

Q.3. My gf is a student in london since 8 months now registered in a 3 years degree course. She has not been settled in uk properly until now, does it matter?

Kindly Advise, Any suggestion or help would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks in Advance.

You don't need to apply through FLR route. Thats only for the countries which joined EU recently and are not full EU members yet. Your girl-friend is a French citizen and you can apply for a 5 years residence permit straight away after marriage. It doesn't matter if your girl-friend is a student because that also counts as the exercise of her Treaty rights.

    Good luck

Thank you for your reply. It was very helpful. I do have a question though, we are doing a French civil partnership in London and not a marriage. Will I still get a 5 years residence permit?

It doesn't make any difference even though you might face some questions regarding your living together for two years. Try to give as better explanation as you can about the time you both have spent together so far and to the effect that your relationship is a genuine one.

    Good luck
