I don't really know where to put this, but hopefully someone can help me: What's the school system like in Montreal? I read lots of stuff about bilingual and English and French schools, but I thought the only official language is French. What's the nomral school system like, then?
    Help, please!

Thanks, but that's no help somehow. That's hwat I meant, it says everything and nothing, or am I just not understanding it?
At the beginning it says that there are English AND French public schools, but in the end it says that access to English schools is restricted, so what? :(

Hi, In Montreal, all schools teach both english and french. In a french school they teach more french than english, whereas in an english school they teach more in english than in french.
The restrictions for going to an english school is that the parents of the child must have gone to an english school or the child can't go to one. Also, if the parents are immigrants to Canada, the child must go to french school.

    Thanks
    Gabriel

I have also always been confused by this. When I was in Montreal though I got the feeling that most schools were in French, and that most people in general converse in French. But I imagine everyone there is pretty much bilingual. I'm not quite sure I understand why they have these restrictions on children going to English school though?
