    Hi, my name is Hiba I am Algerian, i have just applied for a EEA2 reseidence card , i want to go on holidays on december, i thought that the fact to ask for my passport back when my application is under consideration will not affect my application but i discovred in this link http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/applyi ... fpassports that it could cancel my application? so can you please calrify for me this ? so to sumrize my interogation: my question is : DOES THE FACT TO ASK FOR MY PASSPORT BACK TO TRAVEL WHITH FOR 10 DAYS AND THEN SEND IT BACK TO THE HO will cancel or will affect my application?

    No - it won't. This is the general return-of-passports page. It does not apply to applications under European law (and it says so on that page, too). I'm absolutely 100% definite on that one... ;-)

    I want to go on December 21th when do you think that i have to ask for my passport?

    There's no reason why you shouldn't ask for it to be returned now... Your application is now in the queue and they won't do anything with it anyway.
    When we applied for my wife's EEA2, I asked for my EU passport to be returned immediately on receipt of the application (because I needed to travel). This request was ignored and I had to call and send a fax in order for them to react.

    Thanks Sebastian for the informations ( very helpful), I will ask for my passport as soon as I receive the confirmation of the reception of my application from the Home Office ( i sent my application 10 days later). I will let you know......

    Hi !!!!I have just get my confirmation of myEEA2 appliction from the home office.. And now I want to ask for my passport back, i didnt find the fax phone number to wich I have to send a fax, so can you please give me the fax phone number ?and what is the best way to get the passport back as soon as possible?

    Hi Hiba,
    You need to call them and tell them you want your passport back. They'll then give you a fax number. I'm happy to give you the one I used half a year ago, but since things may have changed since then, I would recommend you talk to them first. Just to be on the safe side, I would make sure they are aware of the fact that you are applying under European law and that this therefore does not mean that your application can be considered withdrawn.
