Did you physically need to be in the UK to file a Notice of Marriage?

    Hi LovelyRain,

I'll do my best to answer both posts of yours at once.

As you have no intention to settle in the UK, but you wish to get married in the UK, then per the nifty UKVisas tool you will need a "visit for marriage" visa. This is a modification of a tourist visa and should be trivial for you to get.

To get the visa you should have your fiancé contact the Registry Office and if possible make provisional bookings for dates for you to give notice to marry and of the wedding itself. The should be able to give you this in writing.

You would use application form VAF1 to apply for your visa.

You must physically be in the UK to file official notice of your marriage, so expect to be here for at least 4 weeks. I understand that a Certificate of Approval is NOT required for marriage tourists, which makes life easier.

    Hope this covers everything.
