✎ EN UK Fiance Visa - changing to Spouse Visa?

    Hello all,

    I am a UK Citizen and my fiance is a US citizen. She has come to the UK on a fiance Visa, and we plan to marry in October. We are a little confused about what we need to do to obtain her spouse visa once we get married. Do we need to apply for a spouse visa, or is there a way to 'upgrade' from a fiance visa? I'd really like to hear how others have done this - as it's all so confusing!

    We don't know whether we need to visit the Embassy or whether it can all be done by mail. We are living in the UK now and will be moving into our own apartment within the next week. I am fairly sure we meet all the requirements for her to get her spouse visa (at least we will once we are married), but we have no real idea how to go about obtaining it!

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    UK marriage info

    I don't know if you received an answer to your question or not but I have been researching this also. I found this page: http://www.britainusa.com/visas/article ... 00&a=41191 It has a lot of good information and if you click on link for England, it will give you more guidance on what to do.

    If you find out what you need to do next then please let me know as I will be in a the exact same position in a few months, it is all very confusing as to what to do once you have the visa. Most information is about obtaining the visa and very little info is available about what to do next!!!!! Sorry I didn't help with your question at all.

    Upgrade your Fiance' Visa

    You managed to get her to the UK on a Fiance' Visa. All you do is go to the Home Office by appointment take the appropriate documents and 500 GBP and they up grade her. Not hard!
