Hello. I live in the U.S. and was born here 24 years ago, and my parents were born in Portugal. I want to move there (or elsewhere in EU), but I'm not sure if I'm able to. My parents have a huge empty house there, which would take care of my accomodations.

With my brother, I did apply years ago for Portuguese citizenship through the Consulate here. I then later also applied for, and have, a Portugal ID card (though it says that I live in U.S.). And I'm also in the process of applying for a Portuguese passport (which would also say I live here).

Is it possible already to move there, or do I still need to apply for a visa? Do the 180-day rules apply to me? Do I need a job already set up before I go? Would I need to pay off my student loan first before moving, or can I pay payments from overseas?

I'm also planning on marrying a certain someone from Portugal in the near future. Would that make my application process speedier, and not affect me (if I already can live there)? Am I forgetting anything?

    Thanks for any responses.

I'm sorry if I'm being a pest, but does anyone know? Should I wait until I move there to apply for a portuguese passport, so it'll have my portuguese address instead of u.s. address? Thanks so much.
