I would appreciate any advice that could be provided in respect of obtaining an EEA Family Permit for my grandmother. The facts are as follows: I am a dual South African/British national (recently having acquired the latter), my father is German and mother South African. My parents wish to bring my grandmother (who is South African, and currently resides in South Africa) to the UK, permanently, as a dependent.

Would I be correct in assuming that it is necessary for her to obtain an EEA Family Permit from the Pretoria High Commission using the VFS Visa Service prior to her coming to the UK: form VAF 1 – non-settlement? What documents are needed, and would photocopies suffice? - I only ask as each list appears to be merely indicative and not conclusive. Does it make any difference that I have now acquired British citizenship? As a dependent, would my grandmother be entitled to public funds, as an EEA National would?
