    Hi all,

Thanks for contributing to a v useful page. I have a prob, and I can't find anyone else in this position in the forums.

I'm a brit, my fiance is South African. We've just applied for the settlement (fiance) visa but have been rejected. Not because of my financial standing but because of hers. They said that she had insufficient funds, and would be stuck in the UK if we were to split up.

I haven't had chance to see the wording of the letter, but that's the gist. What would you advise us to do? Should I start sending her money every month, so she can build up a bit?

    Thanks in advance,
    P

    bump!

Can anyone help? I'm sure there are people reading that have brought fiance's over from countries poorer than the UK. Surely they were in a similar position? Is it just a case of wiring my fiance some funds? Perhaps the price of a return ticket??

Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

    Thanks for any help.
    P

I'm sure you could just wire her the money. They would want to see her bank statements and yours as well (to prove the money was, in fact, yours and not given to you by someone else or a loan given)

Have you entertained the thought of getting married already and bypass the fiancee visa altogether? As they say, there's more than one way to skin a cat.

She might need a visa to come here to the UK, but you don't need any to go to South Africa. Think about going there and getting married there. Once all that is done, go to the UK Embassy there and apply her a spouse visa instead. Easier said than done as there are many documentation to submit, but you get the gist.
