✎ EN US citizen marrying Spanish in UK - do i need a visa?

    Hello, im a US citizen wanting to get married to my partner who is Spanish - probably in the UK.

    I was told that I need to apply for a marraige visa from the US... (I'm in europe on a tourist visa) ... Does someone know where I can get info on applying for this visa or if i can get around it??

    Also has anyone reading applied for this visa before and know about how long it takes?

    There are two ways. Either you apply for a marriage visa in the US and travel to UK on that visa which is usually valid for six months.

    The second way is to apply for Certificate of Approval while you are in the UK. However the CoA is normally only given if you are in the UK on longer-term visa and not given to visitors on a tourist visa.

    cool thanks alot for the info i think i might be better looking into spain to see if its easier and if i dont need a visa
