We are about to refinance our house and bring the sum of money to Europe to by a house for us to live in for four or five years. What are some things we should consider before bringing the money over and how do we go about exchanging larger sums of money?

    Thanks!

For larger sums of money, you will usually get a better deal from a currency broker than you would from your bank. They have staff whose business it is to get good foreign exchange deals and who should be able to advise you on the best time to buy your currency. I have used HIFX http://www.hifx.com when buying a house in France and found them to be very good.
